Which Ptfe Plastic Balls supplier is good?

Ningyang Xinxin Stainless Steel Ball Manufacture Co.,Ltd is a good ptfe plastic ball supplier in China

PTFE Plastic Ball Factory: The One Common Ball Material You Cannot Injection Mould

Dateline: KAIFENG, Henan Province, China - September 30, 2026

Every other plastic ball material runs through the same machine. POM, PP, nylon, PS, HDPE, ABS and acrylic all melt, flow and fill a mould. PTFE does not.

PTFE's melt viscosity is so high that the polymer will not flow under injection pressure, which is why the material is fabricated by compacting virgin resin particles and then free-sintering them at 360–380 °C, or by machining balls from moulded or skived PTFE rod. Either route ends the same way: precision lapping to final size, then measurement.

That changes what a buyer should be looking for in a supplier. On POM, the questions are about grade and tolerance. On PTFE, the questions are about process, and about a set of material behaviours that catch out designers who specify PTFE as if it were simply "the expensive plastic".

How tolerance is actually held on a soft polymer

Grades run from G0 to G3 across our PTFE range, corresponding to a diameter tolerance of ±0.01 mm to ±0.05 mm, in sizes from 1 mm to 200 mm.

Holding that on PTFE is harder than holding it on POM, for two of the reasons above. The material deflects under the measuring force of a contact gauge, and it moves with temperature. Both problems are managed the same way: non-contact or low-force metrology, controlled temperature, and repeat measurement at the same points on the same fixture so that the numbers are comparable batch to batch.

Balls are reported on the parameters that predict performance rather than diameter alone - diameter, roundness, surface roughness and lot-to-lot variation. Roundness is the parameter that decides how a soft ball seats; roughness decides how it seals.

Larger PTFE balls are a particular test of process capability. Very few producers can hold tight tolerance at the top of the size range, because the material's expansion and creep behaviour scale with section thickness. PTFE is the material in which our range extends to 200 mm.

Where PTFE is the wrong answer

Four checks, stated plainly, because a PTFE ball in the wrong position fails quietly and expensively:

The ball carries the load - PTFE cold-flows. Specify PEEK, or a 316 stainless ball where the chemistry allows.

The medium is an abrasive slurry - PTFE is soft. Wear rate will be driven by the abrasive, and the low friction does not help.

The ball must hold a dimension through repeated temperature cycling - expansion is high. POM or PEEK is more stable; the choice depends on the temperature band.

The application is exposed to high-energy radiation - PTFE degrades. This is a materials limitation, not a supplier limitation.

In each of these cases we will say so rather than sell the order. A PTFE ball that fails in a customer's pump costs both sides more than the margin on the order.

Teflon Ball

Why PTFE is specified in the first place

There are four jobs where PTFE has no practical substitute, and they are worth stating precisely because they explain why anyone pays for it:

Chemically aggressive media. PTFE is inert to the great majority of industrial chemicals, including strong acids and oxidisers. For a check ball inside a chemical metering pump, that inertness is the entire specification.

Cryogenic service. PTFE retains useful mechanical properties down to −180 °C. A ball that becomes brittle at low temperature fails as a seal, and most polymers do.

High-temperature service. Continuous service to +260 °C, with a melting point of 327 °C. That window is wider than POM (100 °C long term, 166 °C melting for the copolymer) and comparable to PEEK.

Low friction without lubrication. PTFE's coefficient of friction - around 0.04 static and 0.1 dynamic - is the lowest of any known solid material. Where a ball must slide or seat without grease, no lubricant is required because the material is the lubricant.

Add its extremely low water absorption (approximately 0.001%) and the fact that it has the lowest dielectric constant of any solid at 2.1, stable across a wide frequency range, and the material's persistence in instrument, chemical, laboratory and electrical assemblies becomes understandable.

Four things about PTFE that decide whether the ball works

1. It cold-flows under sustained load

This is the limitation that causes the most field failures, and the one least often discussed at the quotation stage.

Under continuous compression PTFE deforms progressively - published data for virgin PTFE puts deformation at roughly 10–18% after 24 hours at 100 °F (38 °C) under 1,500 psi. A PTFE ball is an excellent sealing element and a poor load-bearing element.

What this means in practice: a PTFE ball held permanently against a valve seat will gradually conform to that seat. In some applications that is desirable - it is how a soft-seat seal is made. In an application where the ball must maintain a dimension under permanent spring load, it is not. If the ball carries the load, the material should be PEEK or a steel ball, not PTFE.

2. Its thermal expansion is high, so measurement temperature changes the ball

PTFE expands significantly with temperature - materially more than POM or PEEK. A ball measured on a hot shop floor and a ball measured in a controlled inspection room will not report the same diameter, and neither report will be wrong.

What this means in practice: ask at what temperature the dimensional report was taken. Metrology at a controlled 23 °C is the only way two suppliers' numbers become comparable. A supplier who cannot state the measurement temperature is not really reporting a dimension.

3. It is soft, and soft materials smear rather than cut

Virgin PTFE sits at roughly Shore D 50–65. During grinding and lapping, the material tends to smear and burr instead of cutting cleanly, and abrasive or contamination from tooling can become embedded in the surface.

What this means in practice: the finish on a PTFE ball is a process result, not an automatic one. A ball can be dimensionally perfect and still carry a surface that seals badly or sheds particles into a pharmaceutical or food-contact line. This is where clean lapping media, dedicated tooling and inspection under magnification separate suppliers.

4. It has a decomposition ceiling, and it matters on the shop floor

PTFE is thermally stable in service up to +260 °C, but sintering is run near the top of its processing window and decomposition begins well above normal processing temperatures. Decomposition products are hazardous, which makes furnace control and extraction a process-safety requirement rather than a housekeeping preference.

What this means for a buyer's audit: a PTFE ball supplier whose process is properly instrumented can show you sintering cycle records and furnace calibration. That is a more meaningful document than a material certificate, because it is evidence about the ball rather than about the resin.

The claim we are prepared to be judged on

We are not going to tell you we make the best PTFE plastic balls in the world. PTFE is the easiest material in our range to sell and the hardest to make well, and anyone claiming otherwise has not had a batch come back.

What we will do is tell you the measurement temperature, name the parameters on the report, tell you where PTFE is the wrong material, and send a sample for you to test in your own valve or pump before you commit to a volume order.

Free samples, 2–3 day lead time, freight collect. Sizes from 1 mm to 200 mm, grades G0–G3, EU REACH reported.

If a competing ball seals better in your hardware, you have lost nothing but the freight.

Capacity and documentation

Production runs from two plants - Henan Province, covering 10,000 m² with more than 200 machines, and Shandong Province, covering 5,000 m² with more than 50 machines, roughly 15,000 m² of combined manufacturing space. The two sites can take work from each other, so a loaded line does not move a delivery date.

The manufacturing base dates to 2004 in Ningyang, Shandong. Three entities operate together: Ningyang Xinxin Stainless Steel Ball Manufacture Co., Ltd (production, 2004), Taian Xinxin Import & Export Co., Ltd (export, 2012) and Henan Scole Industry And Trade Co., Ltd (manufacturing and trade, 2016).

A pre-production sample is approved before mass production, and final inspection is completed before shipment. The plant holds ISO certification, and its plastic balls additionally hold an FDA certificate. PTFE solid plastic balls have been reported to pass EU REACH testing.

PTFE balls are available alongside the full plastic range - POM (acetal, Delrin), PP, PA6, PA66, PEEK, PS, HDPE, ABS and acrylic - and alongside stainless steel, glass, ceramic, tungsten carbide, aluminium, brass and copper balls from the same plants, so an assembly that mixes materials can be placed on a single order.

Common sizes are held in factory stock and dispatched in about four days after payment. Custom sizes and materials run 15–30 days. Minimum order quantity starts at 100 pcs for regular sizes. Payment terms include T/T, L/C, Trade Assurance, PayPal and Western Union, with loading at Qingdao, Shanghai or Ningbo.

FAQ

Are you a PTFE plastic ball factory or a trading company?

A manufacturer. Production runs from two plants: Henan Province (10,000 m², 200+ machines) and Shandong Province (5,000 m², 50+ machines).

Why can't PTFE balls be injection moulded like POM or nylon balls?

PTFE's melt viscosity is too high for the polymer to flow under injection pressure. PTFE balls are produced by compacting virgin resin and free-sintering at 360–380 °C, or by machining from moulded or skived PTFE rod, then lapping to final size.

What sizes and tolerances do you produce in PTFE?

From 1 mm to 200 mm, at grades G0–G3 corresponding to ±0.01 mm to ±0.05 mm diameter tolerance.

At what temperature are PTFE balls measured?

Dimensional measurement is taken at a controlled temperature, because PTFE's high coefficient of thermal expansion means the reported diameter depends on the temperature at which it was taken. The measurement temperature is stated on the report.

What are the main limitations of a PTFE ball?

Three matter most: it cold-flows under sustained load (published virgin PTFE data shows roughly 10–18% deformation after 24 hours at 38 °C under 1,500 psi), it has a high coefficient of thermal expansion, and it is soft (Shore D 50–65) so it wears in abrasive service.

Does PTFE comply with EU REACH?

Our PTFE solid plastic balls have been reported to pass EU REACH testing.

Can you supply food-contact or medical grades?

FDA-certified plastic balls are produced; confirm the specific grade required for the application at the quotation stage.

Do you supply samples before an order?

Yes. Samples are free of charge with freight at the buyer's cost, on a 2–3 day lead time. Custom sizes are sampled and approved before mass production.

What is the minimum order quantity and lead time?

MOQ from 100 pcs for regular sizes. Stock sizes dispatch in about four days; custom production runs 15–30 days.

Which markets do you export to?

The United States, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Belgium, Spain, Brazil, Thailand, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia and Poland, among others.
